Meet Dr. Hinshelwood, MD

Dr. Heather Hinshelwood, affectionately known by patients as Dr. H, is a board-certified physician with a passion for helping people stay active, independent, and healthy throughout every stage of life.

Throughout her medical career, she recognized that many patients were looking for more than temporary symptom relief. They wanted answers. They wanted personalized care. Most importantly, they wanted solutions that would help them continue golfing, traveling, exercising, playing golf, spending time with family, and enjoying the lifestyle they love.

That philosophy is what led Dr. H to restorative and integrative medicine.

As Chief Medical Officer at Fraum Health, Dr. H believes healthcare should not simply add years to life—it should add life to those years. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, she works to identify the underlying factors contributing to pain, reduced mobility, nerve-related conditions, and declines in physical function. Every treatment plan is personalized because every patient, every goal, and every lifestyle is unique.

Her approach combines advanced diagnostics with evidence-based, non-surgical therapies designed to help patients restore function, improve mobility, and maintain an active lifestyle for years to come.

Whether helping someone avoid surgery, recover from injury, reduce chronic joint pain, or simply age with greater confidence, Dr. H is passionate about creating care plans that support long-term health rather than short-term fixes.

A Career Dedicated to Service

Dr. Hinshelwood earned her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology from Florida State University before receiving her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Florida College of Medicine. She completed her Emergency Medicine residency at the University of Florida Shands Jacksonville, where she developed the critical decision-making skills and broad clinical expertise that continue to shape her patient-centered approach today.

She has practiced emergency medicine at both Colleton Medical Center and Beaufort Memorial Hospital and has faithfully served as a Medical Officer in the United States Navy since 2002, serving on both active duty and in the reserves. She currently holds the rank of Commander.

Today, Dr. H continues expanding her expertise through advanced training in restorative, metabolic, and functional medicine, helping patients explore innovative, physician-led treatments that support healthy aging and long-term vitality.

Why Patients Choose Dr. Hinshelwood

Patients appreciate Dr. H’s thoughtful, personalized approach to care. She believes exceptional healthcare begins with listening.

Rather than rushing to treat symptoms, she takes the time to understand each patient’s goals, lifestyle, medical history, and the activities that matter most to them. From there, she develops customized treatment plans designed to restore movement, reduce pain, and help patients remain active and independent.

Her ideal patient isn’t simply looking to feel better today—they’re looking to stay healthy and mobile for years to come.

Whether it’s returning to the golf course, playing pickleball without pain, traveling comfortably, keeping up with grandchildren, or simply maintaining an active lifestyle, Dr. H finds the greatest reward in helping patients regain confidence in their bodies and continue doing what they love.
