Returning to Health “Care”

What is the Global Healthcare Advocacy Program and How Can It Help You to Get Well and Live Well

Especially in a fast-growing area like Bluffton, Hilton Head, and beyond, access to quality healthcare growing more and more limited, especially when you put the emphasis on “care.” This equation comes down to three primary areas: access, individual attention, and a plan for preventative and restorative care that can transform the life you’re able to live.

A worldwide initiative by definition, the Global Health Advocate program organically grew at the Fraum Center for Restorative health, as a regenerative arm of the clinic. The humanitarian and whole-patient wellness identity of Global Healthcare Advocacy so aligned with what has been the Fraum Center’s passion and focus from the beginning 30 years prior. It was an easy next step to refine and define the approach to curated care under the banner of GHA.

At the Fraum offices, the resident Global Healthcare Advocate is Dr. Heather Hinshelwood, familiarly referred to by her patients as “Dr. H.” That introduction alone speaks to the core of what GHA brings to those seeking quality personal healthcare: familiarity. To be treated well, it’s imperative to be known and to be given time and access that assures your doctor knows all the elements and influences that have brought you to the reason for your visit, and that you’re treating the right medical needs in a restorative fashion. Not overmedicating, missing, or masking what will, over time, only do more damage and steal more days off of your valuable life.

“Dr. H.” became a doctor motivated by meeting urgent needs in life and death situations. With a medical background that included military service and practicing emergency medicine at Colleton Medical Center & Beaufort Memorial Hospital, she emphasizes that what is going on in today’s medical profession and the corporate structure of American medicine is making people sicker, quicker, for longer, and failing to live the longer lives they could be pursuing. In essence, this is just as much a “life and death” situation as you find in the ER, the only difference is it’s not seen that way, stretched out over time and treated as normal. Instead Fraum is normalizing a new approach.

As your Fraum Global Healthcare Advocate Professional, Dr. H. can invest one-on-one, fully invested attention in order to “formulate a proactive, planned, and guided approach to achieving optimum health and vitality for you to live the life you love by living younger, longer. Dr. H. is passionate about influencing all to make healthier choices to improve their lives. Her focus is on discovering underlying issues, creating a plan & relentlessly pursuing a successful outcome for her patients.”

Dr Hinshelwood is currently completing a fellowship in anti-aging, metabolic & functional medicine through the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine. Anti-aging as a term, however, can be a bit of a misnomer, as the buzzword of the cosmetic industry and the sales pitch behind a million wrinkle creams. Anti-aging is something entirely different when it comes to teaching your cells and muscle memory to “grow well.”

The team of doctors and medical professionals at Fraum know the current US healthcare system is not focused on health. The primary motivators behind the business of medicine are profits and pills – speed and pharmaceuticals. At Fraum, it’s quality of life as it relates directly to your health and ability to live well. Pure and simple. The Global Healthcare Advocacy approach positions the practice’s professionals to get back to the origin of the definition of health “care” – what it was meant to be – and allows our patients to take care of their well-being and take control of being well.
