Nikki Haley: from Chiropractic Assistant to U.S. Presidential Candidate

 
Before becoming South Carolina Governor, Nikki Haley was a chiropractic assistant while attending Clemson, an accountant, and served in the state House of Representatives. In her first campaign in 2004, she defeated the state’s longest-serving House member. Three terms later, she made a long-shot bid for governor and defeated a field of more veteran politicians to become the first woman and first Indian American to lead South Carolina. At 38, she also was the nation’s youngest governor. Haley is the first woman to be a major candidate for president in 2024, and just the fifth Republican woman this century.

 

During her time as Governor, Nikki Haley joined the South Carolina Chiropractic Association (SCCA) every October during Dr. Brad Fraum's time as SCCA District Director in recognition of Spinal Health Month.

SCCA Flood Fund: "After our experience in 2015, the SCCA knows the devastation that severe weather and flooding can have, particularly on doctors and their practices.  During our state’s historic flooding, donations poured into the SCCA’s Flood Fund from members, sponsors, patients, and other associations to help those in need.  Those funds went directly to doctors whose homes or offices had flooded and to Governor Nikki Haley’s One SC Fund that distributed to affected citizens all over the state."

On Hilton Head last week, U.S Presidential Candidate Haley discussed with Dr. Brad Fraum and Sharon Fraum at a meeting in Wexford, the direction of healthcare. She discussed allowing more diversity for American’s healthcare in a post-COVID world. This is consistent with The Fraum Center’s premise in being a leader as an integrated medical facility.
